He moved to the UK in the early 90s, where he worked for several major radio groups – BBC, GWR, Capital, in the news-infotainment area. He was news director at SGR Colchester, 2-Ten FM in Reading and Invicta FM in Kent. His role at all three stations was a personality newsreader on the Breakfast show. Tony also worked for the BBC as a freelance producer and writer, and for Live TV, Britain’s only Tabloid TV station, as a bulletin producer.
Moving back to NZ in 2000, Tony worked as business editor at Now TV. While at Now TV he was used as voice and on camera talent for ads and promos. He fronted Business and News programmes and hosted his own weekly current affairs show. He also voiced promos and ads for Canterbury On Air.
He has also been extensively involved in music and theatre, most recently appearing in the Elmwood Player’s The Importance Of Being Earnest. He has released several records, has written jingles for radio sports bulletins in the UK and the themes for two Now TV programmes. Tony has his own 24 track studio.
While his interest and forte is mostly in information based broadcasting, he is equally at home with commercials and sales messages.
